Dutch Baroque Era Painter, 1625-1654 Son of Pieter Potter. He was related through his mother, Aechtie Pouwels (d 1636), to the wealthy and powerful von Egmont and Semeyns families, who held important offices in Enkhuizen and at the court in The Hague. He worked in his father's studio in Amsterdam during the 1630s and, like him, painted history subjects that show the strong influence of Claes Moeyaert, with whom Paulus may also have studied. In the painting Abraham Returning from Canaan he adapted the landscape setting from an etching by Moses van Uyttenbroeck and the figures from works by Moeyaert from over ten years earlier. Significantly, however, he redistributed the numerous animals and figures that Moeyaert had aligned evenly across the frontal plane; Potter placed them to one side, permitting a view into the deep distance where other animals can be seen. Charles Ferdinand Wimar
German-born American Painter b.1828 d.1862 was a painter of Western Native Americans and buffaloes. Born in Siegenburg, Germany, came to America at the age of 15, settled with his parents in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1846 he began studying painting with Leon Pomarede and went with his master on a trip up the Mississippi River. In 1852 he went to the D??sseldorf Academy to study with Emanuel Leutze. Wimar returned to St. Louis in 1856. He primarily occupied himself with the themes of Indian life, buffalo herds, life in the Great Plains, the theme of the wagon trains. He made three trips to the headwaters of the Mississippi.
ottilia adelborg
Eva Ottilia Adelborg, född 6 december 1855 i Karlskrona, död 19 mars 1936, var en svensk akvarellkonstnär. Hon var dotter till kommendörkapten Bror Jacob Adelborg och hans hustru Hedvig Catharina af Uhr samt syster till Gertrud Adelborg. Adelborg var "bilderbokskonstnärinna" enligt äldre benämning. Hon benämns idag barnboksillustratör, men illustrerade även böcker för vuxna, komponerade tapetmönster och skrev böcker och kan därför benämnas författare. Bosatt i Gagnef i Dalarna från juli 1903, då hon startade en skola för knyppling. Museum över hennes liv och verksamhet finns i Gagnefs gamla prostgård. Känd för bland annat affischen "Prinsarnes blomsteralfabet" (1892). Det litterära Ottilia Adelborg-priset instiftades år 2000 av Gagnefs kommun.
